The Orlu Zonal Chairman of Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) in Imo state, Nze Eze-Ndieze Luke alongside the 12 local government Chairmen in the senatorial district including Orlu zonal executives of the party have decamped to the Young Progressives Party, YPP in the state.
The de-campees in a well attended Exco meeting of Imo YPP on Wednesday May 17, 2023 expressed their utmost confidence in the leadership and programmes of the party, stressing that the whole structures of ZLP in the zone have been collapsed into YPP having studied the deceitful moves of the ZLP’s state Chairman as well as the outstanding pedigree of the YPP’s guber flags bearer Dr. Kemdi Chino Opara.
While addressing the executive members on the mission of the group to the YPP, the defunct Orlu Zonal Chairman of ZLP in the state, Nze Eze-Ndieze Luke who led the group stated that their decision was informed by the integral commitment and stance of YPP to change the narratives in governance across boards.
Nze Eze Ndieze noted that the choice for YPP amongst other political parties is because of their orderliness and peaceful engagements in things of interest.
He however decried that the chieftains are tired of the romances between the state leadership of ZLP and both the state and federal governments among other things undermining the progress of the party, hence they chose not to work in vacuum.
“We have decided to leave the party having observed that the person we are following in ZLP is working for APC; (Sen Ahmed Bola) Tinubu and (Governor) Hope Uzodimma whose administration is characterized by bloodshed and killings”
“We cannot support an administration and people that have caused Orlu constituents sleepless nights, so we have to have to go where we know there is peace and unity of purpose”
“From today, we are now members of YPP and no longer part of Zenith Labour Party and we will collectively and individually contribute our quota to ensure YPP gets to Douglas House come November 2023”.
Welcoming the new members on board, the Imo YPP state Chairman, Hon. Victor Diala expressed happiness in their resolve and confidence in the party amongst others, stating that they have shown their “readiness, high spirit, capacity and commitment”
Hon Diala lauded them for taking a bold step to make a change in the narrative, stressing that “in politics and leadership, there is no vacuum and the stage is set to engage active hands in the constitution of the party’s state Governorship campaign council.
The YPP State Chairman assured the new members of total inclusion in the programmes of the party, adding that their decision will not be regretted as the party promotes level playing ground for everybody.
He stated that the constitution is not a one-man show hence the call for collective commitment to achieve the objective.
