Kidnap Victim Recounts Ordeal, Commended Abia Police For Swift Rescue

Umuahia, Abia State – A recently rescued kidnap victim has shared a chilling account of his captivity, expressing deep gratitude to the Abia State Police Command for their timely intervention.

The victim, one of four individuals freed by the police, recounted how he and his companions were ambushed by kidnappers along New Umuahia Road, Obingwa, while en route to drop off a friend. He revealed that the abductors had already seized another victim in the vicinity, along with his vehicle.

“They drove us around for over two hours before taking us to an unknown location,” he recalled.

Describing the five-day captivity from Sunday to Friday as “agonizing,” the victim detailed the harsh conditions they endured—crammed in a small room, deprived of basic needs, and stripped of their phones. The kidnappers reportedly coerced some victims into transferring money while also demanding ransom from their families.

The Abia State Police Command has received widespread commendation for its rapid response, which led to the safe rescue of the hostages. Authorities continue to intensify efforts to combat kidnapping and other criminal activities across the state.

This successful operation underscores the unwavering commitment of the Abia State Police to ensuring the safety and security of residents and visitors alike.
