Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Imo state, Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu has described the declaration of Hon Ugonna Ozuruigbo as winner of the February 25, 2023 National Assembly election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as an end to electoral thuggery and rigging in Imo state.

Rt Hon Ozuruigbo, popularly known as (OZB) is the PDP House of Representatives Member elect for Nwangele, Isu, Nkwerre and Njaba federal constituency.

The INEC Collation Officer, Prof Rosetta Okechukwu said that the PDP Candidate scored 19, 971 votes to defeat his closest rival and Labour Party candidate who got 9, 372 votes to come second while Harrison Nwadike of the All Progressives Congress polled 8, 991 votes to come a distant third in the election.

The electoral umpire had delayed the announcement of Hon Ozuruigbo’s as the winner after it claimed that election did not hold in some parts of Njaba local government area.

Anyanwu insists that in like manner, other stolen mandates of PDP across the 10 federal constituencies as well as the 27 State Assemblies in the state will be reclaimed in no distance time.

According to him, having seen that Hon Ozuruigbo’s margin of victory was so overwhelming and difficult to be manipulated or rewritten, the electoral umpire had no option than to tactically announce him as the winner.

He said that, as the popular and most focused political alternative in Imo state and Nigeria at large, PDP fielded credible candidates who went ahead to defeat their counterparts in other parties, regretting that agents of the unpopular APC, in its usual rigging spree subverted their victories in connivance with enemies of the state.

The party’s standard bearer therefore thanked the people of Nwangele, Isu, Nkwerre and Njaba federal constituency for standing behind PDP and its candidate through out the trying period, assuring that their efforts will be reciprocated in due cause.

These was contained in a press release signed by his special adviser on media Ikenna Onuoha.
