Why Is Owerri Zone Still Backwards?

Since 1999 the current democratic leadership returned to Nigeria, the people of Owerri Zone has been sub-charged, Why?

During this period Owerri Zone has produced six senators to represent them in the red chambers, they are as follows: Chief Evan Enwerem (Late), Chief Ama Iwuagwu (Late), Senator Eze Ajoku, Senator Chris Anyanwu, Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu, and the incumbent Senator Ezenwa Onyewuchi.

It’s about 24years since 1999 but you hardly see any meaningful project done by the federal government in 9 Local Government that made up IMO East District.

And nobody has asked questions as to why it is so, is it that they are not aware of how things are done in the red chambers? Or is it that don’t understand ways things are shared? Could it be that they got it and withheld? Or may be they have not been able to push through their paper work to attract federal government’s attention to the zone?

Another question is, why some of them still seeking re-election when they have underperformed? Some from the green chambers to red chambers yet, Owerri is lagging behind.

There are about six higher institution in the zone with 3 federal Institutions among them, namely: Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO), Federal Polytechnic Nekede Owerri (FEDPONEK), Alvan Ikeoku Federal College of Education Owerri, and another three state owned institutions namely: Imo State University Owerri (IMSU), Michael Okpara University of Agriculture and FECOLAT.

But in view of all these Owerri Zone is still behind in terms of development, all roads that lead to all these instructions are impassible, no Federal electricity in all the schools, no good lecture halls in them, yet we have senators and house of representatives representing our Zone, and there’s no federal influence, not even a motion or bill has been heard of about these institutions.

What about the federal medical institution and other health facilities? How long shall we continue live in darkness in a land give others light?

God has sent a man who will speak for us and attract the presence of the federal government to Owerri and he is no other than a young man who schooled and lives in Owerri for over 30years.

Comrade Chijioke Odaghara is God sent to Ndi Owerri and we shall support him to achieve this fit.

Congratulations to Ndi Owerri Zone.

Amb. Prince.
